Chef Marco Cassano

Owner & Executive Chef

Chef Marco Cassano was born into the hospitality industry at the young age of four, where he began learning the fundamentals of food and baking by watching his parents work in their family bakery in Stouffville. Growing up on the family farm, he also developed a deep appreciation for fresh ingredients by helping grow vegetables and raise animals.

By the age of 12, Marco was already preparing full meals, showcasing a natural talent and refined palate for flavor. At 14, he began working in local restaurants and the family bakeshop while continuing his education. Following his passion for the culinary arts, Marco furthered his training at George Brown College.

After graduating, Marco and his cousin took over the family-owned Amaretto Restaurant, transforming the concept and growing the business to new levels of success while continuing to operate the original bakery in Stouffville. The family later expanded by purchasing the Goodwood location and successfully operating both businesses together.

As life evolved, the Stouffville location was eventually sold, and Marco became Sous Chef at Angus Glen Golf Club. Within a year, he purchased the Goodwood Bakeshop and began building it into what it is today. During this time, he also shared his passion and knowledge by teaching Culinary Arts at Fleming College and Durham College. Although he has stepped away from teaching professionally, mentorship and learning remain part of his everyday life at Annina's.

From appetizers and main courses to desserts and specialty cakes, everything is made in-house using high-quality, fresh, and organic ingredients — right down to the spices. Chef Marco is dedicated to creating memorable culinary experiences and offering personalized service that brings each customer's vision to life, from flavor and design to every final detail.
